Also known as

Commission Decision 2001/596/EC amends the annexes of 27 prior Decisions on conformity attestation procedures for construction products under Article 20 of Council Directive 89/106/EEC, replacing references to the superseded European reaction-to-fire classification system established by Decision 94/611/EC with the updated classification system introduced by Decision 2000/147/EC. The amendments systematically substitute former class designations (e.g., 'A', 'B', 'C') with the new granular classifications (e.g., 'A1', 'A2', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E', 'F' and their floor-level equivalents), and update footnotes to reflect that products not requiring reaction-to-fire testing include those of Class A1 pursuant to Commission Decision 96/603/EC. The Decision is addressed to the Member States and was adopted in accordance with the opinion of the Standing Committee on Construction.AI
