Council of the European Union 23 January 2006, 2006/35/EC: Council Decision of 23 January 2006 on the principles, priorities and conditions contained in the Accession Partnership with Turkey

Also known as

Council Decision 2006/35/EC, adopted on 23 January 2006 pursuant to Council Regulation (EC) No 390/2001, establishes the principles, priorities, intermediate objectives, and conditions of the 2005 Accession Partnership with Turkey, superseding the 2001 and 2003 Accession Partnerships. The Annex sets out short-term priorities (to be accomplished within one to two years) and medium-term priorities (within three to four years) spanning political criteria, democratic governance, human rights, economic reform, and alignment with the EU acquis across numerous policy sectors. Implementation is subject to monitoring through the Association Agreement framework and Commission progress reports, with Community pre-accession financial assistance conditional on Turkey's compliance with EC-Turkey agreements and demonstrable progress toward the Copenhagen criteria.AI
