Regulation (EU) No 1384/2014 establishes an interim tariff regime freezing, as of 1 January 2015, customs duties on goods originating in Ecuador at the levels applicable on 12 December 2014, pending the entry into force or provisional application of Ecuador's Protocol of Accession to the EU–Colombia–Peru Trade Agreement. Entitlement to the preferential tariff treatment is conditional upon Ecuador's compliance with rules of origin, reciprocal trade restraint, and the effective implementation of the human rights, labour, environmental, and governance conventions listed in the Annex. The Regulation expires six months after the Protocol of Accession enters into force or is applied provisionally, or on 31 December 2016 at the latest, whichever occurs first, and confers on the Commission implementing powers to suspend the tariff treatment or reintroduce Common Customs Tariff duties in cases of non-compliance or serious injury to Union producers.AI
