Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/117, adopted pursuant to Article 11(2) of Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013 and Article 6 of Council Directive 92/43/EEC, establishes fisheries conservation measures applicable to fishing vessels in the Baltic Sea by prohibiting the use of bottom contacting gear within seven designated restricted areas (Natura 2000 reef zones under Danish sovereignty), while permitting transit and use of other gear types provided bottom contacting gear is lashed and stowed in accordance with Article 47 of Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009. The Regulation repeals Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/1778, reorganising the previously consolidated conservation measures into two separate instruments by sea basin, with Baltic Sea measures governed by this Regulation and North Sea/Kattegat measures addressed in Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/118. Member States concerned (Denmark, Germany, and Sweden) are required to assess implementation and submit a summary report to the Commission by 31 July 2017.AI
