Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2024/232 amends Directive 2011/65/EU by granting a temporary exemption in Annex III for cadmium and lead in plastic profiles made from recovered rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) used in category 11 electrical and electronic windows and doors. The exemption permits maximum concentration limits of 0,1 % cadmium and 1,5 % lead by weight in recovered rigid PVC, subject to specific downstream use restrictions effective from 28 May 2026, labelling requirements for lead concentrations of 0,1 % or greater, and traceability certification rules. Member States must adopt and publish the required implementing measures by 31 July 2024, apply them from 1 August 2024, and observe the exemption's expiry date of 28 May 2028.AI
