Also known as

Directive (EU) 2024/1385 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 May 2024 establishes a comprehensive minimum legal framework to prevent and combat violence against women and domestic violence across the Union, harmonising definitions of criminal offences—including female genital mutilation, forced marriage, and specified forms of cyber violence—and setting minimum maximum penalties. The Directive further prescribes obligations regarding victim protection and access to justice, individual risk assessment, emergency barring and protection orders, specialist support services, and data collection, applicable to all victims regardless of gender. Member States are required to transpose the Directive into national law by 14 June 2027, while retaining discretion to adopt more stringent measures, and must submit compliance reports to the Commission by 14 June 2032.AI
