European Commission 16 July 2026, Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1784 of 16 July 2026 amending Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/582 concerning certain emergency measures relating to foot and mouth disease in Cyprus (notified under document C(2026) 5138)
Also known as
Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1784 of 16 July 2026 amends Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/582 by replacing its Annex to update the protection zones, surveillance zones, further restricted zone, and vaccination zone established in Cyprus in response to confirmed outbreaks of foot and mouth disease (a category A disease under Regulation (EU) 2016/429), with the amendments reflecting revised epidemiological assessments and updated timelines for the application of emergency measures. The legal basis is Article 259(1) of Regulation (EU) 2016/429 (the Animal Health Law), and the spatial and temporal adjustments are grounded in information provided by Cyprus regarding preliminary cleaning and disinfection of affected establishments pursuant to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/687. The Decision is addressed solely to the Republic of Cyprus and establishes that the protection and surveillance zones centred on two Larnaca coordinates, the further restricted zone covering the remaining territory of Cyprus, and the vaccination zone covering the entire territory of Cyprus, remain applicable until 1 October 2026 and until the last day of the recovery period under Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/361, respectively.AI
