Also known as

Directive (EU) 2026/470 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 February 2026 amends Directives 2006/43/EC, 2013/34/EU, (EU) 2022/2464, and (EU) 2024/1760 with the primary purpose of reducing regulatory burden on undertakings while preserving the policy objectives of the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Finance Action Plan. Key provisions include: narrowing mandatory sustainability reporting obligations to undertakings exceeding EUR 450,000,000 net turnover and 1,000 employees on average; introducing a 'value-chain cap' protecting undertakings with fewer than 1,000 employees from excessive information requests; establishing voluntary sustainability reporting standards; postponing the deadline for limited assurance standards to 1 July 2027 and removing the obligation to adopt reasonable assurance standards; and significantly raising the thresholds for corporate sustainability due diligence obligations under Directive (EU) 2024/1760 to 5,000 employees and EUR 1,500,000,000 net worldwide turnover, while expanding full harmonisation provisions, removing the specific Union-wide civil liability regime, and unifying the application deadline for all in-scope companies to 26 July 2029. Member States are required to transpose Articles 1–3 by 19 March 2027 and Article 4 by 26 July 2028.AI
