Also known as

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1219 of 9 June 2026 authorises the placing on the market of inulin-propionate ester as a novel food within the Union under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283, amending the Union list of novel foods established by Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2470 to include specified conditions of use (cereal bars at 17 g/100 g and fruit smoothies at 3 g/100 ml) and technical specifications. Pursuant to Articles 26 and 27 of Regulation (EU) 2015/2283, a five-year data protection period running from 30 June 2026 to 30 June 2031 is granted to the applicant, Imperial College Hammersmith Campus, on the basis of proprietary batch-to-batch analyses and in-house analytical methods, restricting market authorisation exclusively to that applicant unless a subsequent applicant obtains independent authorisation or secures the applicant's agreement. The European Food Safety Authority's scientific opinion of 25 June 2025 formed the basis for the safety conclusion, and the Regulation entered into force on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.AI
