European Parliament and Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety 16 January 1981, RESOLUTION ON THE PREVENTION OF DISASTERS DURING THE THE EP CALLED ON THE COMMISSION TO SUBMIT A DETAILED REPORT EXTRACTION OF OIL AND GAS IN NORTH-WEST EUROPEAN WATERS TO IT WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR CONTAINING INFORMATION, IN PARTICULAR, ON SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ON OFFSHORE INSTALLATIONS AND THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR COMBATING LARGE-SCALE MARINE AND COASTAL POLLUTION BY OIL; IT ALSO ASKED THE COMMISSION TO INVESTIGATE THE FEASIBILITY OF A SPECIAL INTERNATIONAL COORDINATING BODY IN THE NORTH SEA AND THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE COMMUNITY COULD HELP COORDINATE ACTION BY THE MEMBER STATES AND ANY OTHER COUNTRIES INVOLVED IN THE EVENT OF LARGE-SCALE OIL POLLUTION IN THE NORTH SEA.
