Commission Communication COM(2019) 149 presents the 2019 Environmental Implementation Review, identifying Member State implementation gaps in EU environmental policy and legislation and priority actions concerning circular economy and waste, climate, natural capital, air and water quality, industrial emissions, chemicals, environmental financing and governance. It estimates the societal cost of current environmental implementation gaps at approximately EUR 55 billion annually and promotes country-specific dialogue, peer learning and improved policy integration to address systemic obstacles. The Communication is without prejudice to Commission infringement action under the Treaties and calls on Member States to implement priority actions swiftly and transparently.AI
