1.Executive summary Tumble dryers are a popular appliance in EU households. The market penetration of tumble dryers is increasing and expected to grow from 26% of EU households in 2020 to 35% in 2040. However, the average lifetime of tumble dryers over the last decade has decreased from 14 to 12 years, prompting an acceleration of production to compensate the shorter lifetime.
