A - Upon the abolition of the State monopoly with regard to the transportation by sea and the industrial processing of bananas and trade in bananas a tax was introduced in Italy with effect from 1 January 1965 on fresh and dried bananas and banana meal by Law No 986 of 9 October 1964 .
