WRITTEN QUESTION No 1045/81 by Mr Ripa di Meana and Mrs Macciocchi to the Council of the European Communities (2 October 1981) Subject: Egypt President Sadat has recently ordered the arrest of more than 1 500 people, not only political leaders but also many of the leading figures in the religious communities, including those of the Coptic Church whose patriarch has been removed from office.
