Written Question No 1925/85 (*), can the Commission confirm: — whether it considers the provisions of the Portuguese VAT and alcohol tax legislation applicable to spirits, implemented with effect from 1 January 1986, conform with the requirements of Community law in the field of alcohol taxation? — if not, what steps does it intend to take to secure the removal of the discrimination?
