Answer given by Mr Fischler on behalf of the Commission (24 February 1999) The 1997/98 tomato processing season was marked by poor weather conditions in all producer Member States. The quantities precontracted in the Union as a whole before the start of the year (production target) totalled 8 098 595 tonnes of fresh tomatoes.
