Answer given by Mr Byrne on behalf of the Commission (24 September 2002) The Commission welcomes the initiative of the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) to formulate ‘Good Agricultural Practices’ including animal welfare aspects. The Commission works actively to create a better understanding of Community concerns on animal welfare at international level.
