Question for written answer E-010976/12 to the Commission Marielle de Sarnez (ALDE) (30 November 2012) Subject: Encouraging the use of wooden sleepers in railway lines Concrete sleepers are gradually replacing wooden ones in railway line construction. In France, for example, only 300 000 of the 2.5 million sleepers laid each year are made of wood.
