Question for written answer E-009019/13 to the Commission Aldo Patriciello (PPE) (24 July 2013) Subject: Maritime piracy in the Mediterranean Maritime transport is key to economic growth and of crucial importance to Europe as a whole. Eighty per cent of the goods traded worldwide are transported by sea. Piracy is a threat to security and stability and is therefore a priority area for EU action.
