New York Supreme Court December 15, 1848 (Hill v. Thacter)

This was a civil action, commenced against a Defendant for speaking defamatory words of and concerning the Plaintiff. The summons was dated on the 2d November, and the affidavit to the complaint, on the 6th November. The appointment of a guardian for the Plaintiff, who was an infant, was made on the 7th November, and the summons was served on that day.
