On the 31st of October, 1907, the defendant was convicted of the crime of murder in the first degree upon an indictment alleging that on the 22nd of July, 1907, in the borough of Manhattan, county of New York, he shot and killed Hovhannes Tavshanjian willfully, feloniously and of his malice aforethought. The jury deliberated but twenty-five minutes before they rendered their verdict.
