The plaintiff, Laura W. Monteith, is a lady of refinement, culture and gentle lineage whose ancestors have occupied “Heathcote Farm” at Kingston, New Jersey, since 1737. Prior to leasing the farm she had been engaged in teaching young ladies and preparing them for college. She had traveled extensively and spoke five languages.
