On April 27, 1934, Edward L. Edland entered into a contract with the state of Washington, whereby he agreed to “do all work and furnish all tools, materials and equipment for manufacturing and stockpiling crushed stone (oil rock) materials” on a state highway to be constructed in King and Pierce counties.
