Plaintiffs sued defendants in state court on claims arising out of plaintiffs’ alleged involuntary detention by defendants during an investigation of thefts at a company plant.1 They later amended their complaints, charging that defendants’ actions had violated plaintiffs’ Fourteenth Amendment rights.
