Appellant was convicted by a jury of attempted stealing of an automobile, RSMo Section 564.011 (1978). The Circuit Court of Jefferson County entered judgment on the jury’s verdict and sentenced him as a persistent offender to a term of eight years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
