Defendant Mack Lee was charged with attempted armed robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 8 — 4(a)) and murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1). A jury found Lee guilty of attempted armed robbery, but could not reach a verdict on the murder charge.
