In late 1988, Steven Dahl, a North Dakota farmer, delivered approximately 5,700 hundredweight of navy beans to a public storage warehouse in Cooperstown, North Dakota. The parties entered into a storage .agreement that allowed Dahl to store beans at the warehouse, which was owned by ConAgra.
