The prosecution appeals by leave granted an August 28, 1996, order granting defendant’s motion for a bench trial over the prosecution’s objection. We reverse.

On April 8, 1996, following a preliminary examination, defendant was bound over for trial on charges of felonious assault, MCL 750.82; MSA 28.277, and resisting or obstructing a police officer, MCL 750.479; MSA 28.747.
