I. BACKGROUND

This case is essentially an action for copyright infringement. Plaintiffs Hogan and Masucci are the authors of a comic entitled

“Matchsticks.”

The defendants are DC Comics, its corporate owners/joint venturers, and the two authors of an allegedly infringing comic.
