Sanford Lehrer, a psychiatrist at Eastern State Hospital (ESH), and ESH signed a document that purported to stipulate, settle, and release each other regarding an employment dispute. Dr. Lehrer later sued the State of Washington, Department of Social and Health Services, and ESH (collectively referred to as DSHS) alleging both breach of contract and rescission.
