OPINION. {¶ 1} In 1999, appellant Joseph Griffin was charged with murdering his wife, Pamela, in violation of R.C. 2903.01(A). The indictment also contained a gun specification. (Because appellant and his murdered wife share the same surname, we refer to them by their first names.
