The plaintiff, Lori Hock, an inmate in the custody of the State of Connecticut *453Department of Correction (DOC), brought this action against the defendant, Paul Thi-pedeau, a former DOC officer, for violating her Eighth Amendment right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment and for violating a state statute.
