¶ 1. A jury in the Lincoln County Circuit Court found Michael D. Leggett guilty of depraved-heart murder pursuant to Mississippi Code Annotated section 97-3-19 (Rev.2006). Leggett was sentenced as a habitual offender to life without eligibility for probation or parole. Subsequently, Leggett filed a motion for a judgment notwithstanding the verdict and/or a new trial.
