Plaintiff Community Trust Bank (“CT”) filed suit for alleged violations of the federal securities laws and of a variety of Kentucky state laws by Defendant Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc. (“MLPFS”). All of the claims arise out of CT’s purchase of auction rate securities (“ARS”) in a private placement offered by MLPFS.
